National Staffing Agency Sees Influx of Overall Jobs Available

ORLANDO, FL– Jul 27, 2011 – Kavaliro, a national staffing agency, today launches a free mobile job search app for the iPhone and iPad. Designed to interface seamlessly with Kavaliro’s job portal, the application allows users to browse, filter, and search jobs in the database from their mobile devices. Users then contact Kavaliro about job openings directly through the app’s built-in contact form.

The app empowers job seekers to quickly and easily search and apply for jobs. During the application process, responding quickly for jobs is important. Despite reports of growing jobless numbers, Kavaliro is seeing a significant number of jobs available. In fact, the firm experienced a 165% growth in revenue in May 2011 over the same period last year.

“Despite what you read, we are seeing more job openings now than we have in over a decade,” said Bill Peppler, managing partner of Kavaliro. “To help us fill those jobs and reach qualified candidates, we realized a mobile application would be the perfect way to go. Now anyone, anywhere, can access the power of Kavaliro in the palm of their hand. We feel that this is yet another way to help put America back to work. ”

Staffing firm Kavaliro is Fueling the Community; Partnering with Douglas Stenstrom Elementary to provide local families with food

Kavaliro Fueling the Community - PB&J Collection
Orlando, FL – April 25, 2011

Sparked by the March 6 60 Minutes documentary on the homeless situation in Central Florida, a piece that made 60 Minutes history, local staffing firm Kavaliro is making a commitment to help feed the hungry within the community. Kavaliro is partnering with Oviedo, Florida’s Douglas Stenstrom Elementary in support of their Backpack Program, which originated during the 2008-2009 school year.

The program benefits students who receive free or reduced lunch, or whose families are facing financial difficulties. Each Friday, backpacks are filled at the school with nutritious food to be sent home with the students, providing ten to fifteen of these needful families with 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners for the weekend. The empty backpacks are returned the following Monday to be refilled for other families. Because the need is so great, the families rotate each week.

Each quarter, Kavaliro will conduct a “Kavaliro: Fueling the Community” food drive where they will ask clients, friends, and other local businesses to participate by donating food items to the Backpack Program. Upon request, Kavaliro will drop off a box and a simple list of requested food items at any local place of business on a Monday, and then return to pick it up on a Friday. They will also have a box at their East Orlando offices, located at 3504 Lake Lynda Drive, Suite 175. Kavaliro will then deliver the food items and new backpacks to the school.

The first quarterly food drive will begin on Monday, April 25 and run through Friday, April 29. The requested items for this drive are peanut butter and jelly, both in plastic containers so as to avoid breakage.

Kavaliro Community Relations Director Lisa Moore said of the program; “The 60 Minutes story moved all of us here at Kavaliro so much that we just knew we had to help in some capacity. Being that commitment is one of our core values, we are taking this opportunity to make a difference, and we encourage other Central Florida businesses to do the same.”

Local businesses who are interested in participating should contact Lisa Moore (information below) to receive their Kavaliro: Fueling the Community food donation box.

Kavaliro’s Diane Mahony Appointed to Board of Three Orange County Charter Schools

Diane Mahony Kavaliro CEO

Orlando, FL – January 25, 2011 – Diane Mahony, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Orlando based staffing firm Kavaliro, was appointed to the board of directors of Aloma High School, Chancery High School, and Sheeler Charter High School late last week. The three schools are approved and accredited charter schools, serving as institutional alternatives to the traditional, district-based, public high school options within Orange County. The appointment is a natural fit for Mahony, who has an extensive leadership experience within the Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) system.

As a board member, Mahony will help to guide the organizational direction of the three schools, all of which share a common mission of meeting the needs of at-risk students through an innovative academic design and schedule. The foundation of their educational program is a teacher-directed, mastery-based, and technology-enhanced learning environment, designed specifically to address each student’s unique and diverse learning needs. Serving students aged 16 to 21, the schools provide alternative scheduling options to students as they work towards earning a high school diploma.

Board Chairman Ron Goss said of Mahony’s appointment: “We’re excited to have Diane as a member of the board. We believe that her energy and experience will be an asset to our schools and our students.”

Mahony, who holds a Master of Education degree through the Lockheed Martin/UCF Academy for Mathematics and Science, brings with her greater than eight years of experience as an educator within the OCPS system. A former Teacher of the Year, her leadership capacities include past stints as department chair and school renaissance chair, along with various other committee and board positions. For the past several years, Mahony has served as the chief executive for Kavaliro, where she has been a driving force behind many successful corporate initiatives. She has also overseen all financial reporting, planning, and analysis for the company.

Mahony had this to say of her recent appointment: “It is a great honor to have been selected as a board member for the Aloma, Chancery, and Sheeler Charter Schools. I will do all that I can to guide them in helping at-risk students attain one of life’s most precious gifts; a quality education.”

Kavaliro Releases 2010-2011 Employment and Salary Handbook

Kavaliro 2010-2011 Employment and Salary Handbook CoverOrlando, FL – November 4, 2010 – Kavaliro, an Orlando based staffing firm with clients spanning 13 states, today released their first eBook since launching the new company earlier this year. The 2010-2011 Employment and Salary Handbook highlights recent trends in employment, as well as projections for areas of new growth, current tips for employers, and more. Kavaliro created this eBook, which is available for free download on their web site, with the goal of keeping their clients “informed and knowledgeable” in mind.

Highlights in trends include the slow-shifting change from an “employer’s market” to an “employee’s market”, noted by projections of positive employment growth in multiple industries through 2018. The increased importance for information technology (IT) teams is also a notable trend – with over 63,000 new IT jobs created nationwide since January of 2010. The economy is slowly on the rebound from the recession, and with that comes job growth in multiple industries, as noted in the handbook. Contract hiring can help stabilize the job markets and provide better opportunities for both employers and potential employees. Kavaliro’s new eBook includes suggestions for employers and employees alike with regards to staying up on recent employment trends, as well as tips on how to benefit from both current and projected market conditions.

Other topics covered by the 2010-2011 Employment and Salary Handbook include:

  • Tips for employers on how to keep their employees “happy and loyal”, keep turnover rates low, and avoid the underestimated costs of replacing even entry-level positions which, according to the handbook, can be as high as $3,500 to replace an employee that is paid just $8 per hour.
  • Kavaliro’s suggested hybrid hiring plan to maximize efficiency and minimize spending.
  • Job descriptions, salaries and required skills from a sampling of jobs in some of the top growing industries, including information technology.

Mark Moore, President of Kavaliro, notes in his opening letter; “We are confident that you will find this information very useful in determining your staffing strategies for the upcoming quarters”. Also speaking to the company’s principles of empowerment, authenticity, agility and commitment, Moore states how the eBook is just one example of how Kavaliro looks to serve and support their clients in ways that are a cut above the rest. Kavaliro is constantly implementing ways to keep their finger on the pulse of the job market and to streamline efficiency, exemplified not only by this eBook, but by other value-added functions. These include the new on-site job search portal, which allows applicants to create accounts, upload resumes and apply for jobs nationwide straight from Kavaliro’s website, as well as embracing the use of social media to better communicate with their clients and community. Kavaliro hopes that this most recent project, The 2010-2011 Employment and Salary Handbook, will serve as another valuable tool for their clients.

Staffing firm Kavaliro continues to expand, announces the opening of a new office in Jupiter, Florida

State of FloridaOrlando, FL, September 28, 2010 – Kavaliro, a leading employment agency placing qualified personnel across the United States, is proud to announce the opening of a new satellite office in Jupiter, Florida. The new office is located at 612 N. Orange Ave. Suite 1A, Jupiter, FL 33458. The expansion marks a commitment to serving their South Florida clients, such as the leading clean and alternative energy provider in the U.S. and the largest electric utility in Florida, in a more efficient manner by working more closely with them. The Jupiter location is the third Kavaliro office, with the other two located in Orlando, FL and Charlotte, NC.

Diane Symes Mahony, CEO of Kavaliro, had this to say about the new office in Jupiter,”It was a good feeling to be able to open this office in my home town during this difficult economy. It is something we are very proud to have accomplished in a short period of time, and we are glad to be contributing positively to the community.” Kavaliro hopes to grow this location in the coming year, and is planning on opening additional offices in the Southeast.

As the recession fades and employment rates begin to climb, the competition for experienced professionals becomes more intense. As a result, employers are increasingly relying upon outsourced staffing solutions to meet their hiring needs. The Jupiter location provides the benefit of a local office to facilitate interaction between contract staff, job candidates and Kavaliro’s current South Florida clients. Industry trends indicate that companies will increasingly rely upon part-time and contract labor, even beyond these recessionary times, as the true economic cost of outsourced labor continues to decrease relative to that of traditional full-time employment arrangements. Kavaliro is there for its clients, ready to guide them in adjusting to these trends.

Staffing firm Kavaliro acquires the Orlando and Charlotte offices of Skillstorm

Kavaliro Staffing Services Logo
Orlando, FL – July 2, 2010 – Kavaliro today announced its entry into the arena of technical and professional staffing solutions via the acquisition of the Orlando and Charlotte offices of SkillStorm, a leading provider of specialized staffing services across the nation.  Forged from the owners, leaders, and top producers of SkillStorm and recently acquired SGIS, the new company marches onward, better positioned to serve their clients with a more dynamic and proactive approach.  Kavaliro represents an extension of the shared vision that true strength comes from a collaborative and open-minded environment where employees, clients, candidates and consultants all are supported and empowered to succeed.

The decision to step out of the comfort zone of their successful endeavors was not an easy one to make, but partners Mark Moore, John Mahony, Diane Symes-Mahony and Bill Peppler relished the opportunity to grow and nurture something they could call their own.   Peppler explains, “The four of us considered where we stood, and we realized we wanted to run our own company, one that was streamlined and more agile, and one in which our employees were given the freedom to grow”.   After constructing a savvy business plan and agreeing on a mutually beneficial buyout with their other business associates, they were ready to move forward with their brainchild, Kavaliro.

Derived from Esperanto, the international language of collective harmony and mutual understanding, the term Kavaliro means “knight”, and it pays homage to the institution that brought the friends and partners together, the University of Central Florida.  Years after their time at UCF, the partners bring their respective work experience and expertise back together in this new venture.  The acquisition of the Charlotte and Orlando offices of SkillStorm was a natural next step.

Kavaliro will continue the work of its predecessors in providing outsourced technical solutions to state and local government agencies.  The acquisition will also allow for continued specialization in project management consulting, outsourcing, and staff augmentation solutions within the areas of information technology, engineering, healthcare, and green energy.  Altogether, the entity will offer a wide array of technical and professional staffing solutions that will serve a diverse client base that currently spans 13 states, with plans to serve clients nationwide.

All 125 of the current internal and external employee base will be retained, with plans to add 2-3 internal employees in both Orlando and Charlotte before the end of the summer.   Management estimates that they will add another 60 high wage external positions before the end of the year.  The newly formed entity will be headquartered in Orlando.

By using best practices and optimal employee recruiting strategies, Kavaliro provides employers with integrated staffing solutions, providing only the most qualified professionals who can fill both project and permanent positions in order to ensure the ongoing success of all types of businesses.
