Good luck finding a company in today’s business environment that does not rely on data to run their business and keep making money. Customer data, past purchase information and many other pieces of information can be tracked and analyzed to improve your businesses cash flow, operations and profitability. That is why the position of data center manager is so important.

All the data in the world will not help your company if you do not have the right people to keep your data center running smoothly.  At a  minimum your want you data professionals to meet the following minimum requirements:

• They should work well with other professionals, both technical and non-technical.  Data managers have to interact with people from all areas of your company.  They need to be able to understand and relay information to all of them correctly.

• While some positions do not require critical or “out of the box” thinking, data center managers need these skills.  That have to track and gather data in many ways and often on tight deadlines.  They need to be able to think on their feet and get the job done.

• The data managers also need to understand a wide variety of database management tools and languages.  Most database tools and languages are similar but your staff will need a through knowledge of at least one of them in order to get up to speed quickly.
